Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook Addicts Beware!

Are you a Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook addict?

If so, you need to be careful.

The reason being is this: Now because Twitter gets so much power through through Google if you search for your Twitter username, there is a good chance that your Twitter page will rank highly in Google for this!

So if your Twitter username is your name like “Sean McPheat” for example then that page will rank high:

http://www.twitter.com/seanmcpheat

Go and do this experiment now:

Go on over to http://www.google.com

Type in Sean McPheat and you will see that my Twitter account, Linked In account and Facebook account are all in the TOP 10!

So you need to be careful on what you put on these sites for your positioning because people will be coming across these.

You can use this to your advantage though. By effective positioning you can really make social media work for you.

You need to keep these sites up to date and with appropriate information!

A Big Lesson From Disney’s Buy Out Of Marvel

Just reading in the news that Disney is in the process of buying Marvel Entertainment that owns the rights to Spider-Man, The Hulk, Fantastic Four and a further 5,000 markatable characters!

Good ole Spidey will soon be rubbing shoulders with Mickey and Mini!

The price?

£2.5 billion ($4 billion)

And in my opinion it’s a snip at that price!

Having just come back from a magical time in Disneyworld Florida, I came to see at close quarters the money making machine that is Disney.

Just think of all of the additional super-hero films they can now produce on he back of this deal?

Just think of the merchandise for every film?

DVD’s, audios, books, key rings…

The theme rides and their merchandise!

I could go on and on and on.

If you look closely at Disney’s marketing model, they create a front end product i.e “the film” and then build everything on the back end. The film is a showpiece and then they make their millions (or billions!) on everything else.

It’s a great business model and one that you should look into for your business.
