Build It And They Will Come…Yeah Right!

My # 1 rule in business is this…

Find a hungry crowd and then go and feed them!

And feed them well!

Too many people come to me with product ideas and business ideas and I reply with:

“Who will buy it? Where will you find them? And how much will it cost you to find them?”

Too many businesses think that just because they have a “good product” that all they need to do is “build it and they will come”

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Instead, work out what people want first and then develop products and services around that instead of developing products and services and then having to work out where and who to sell it to.

That’s just business suicide!

I also love to fish where the sharks are fishing too. Just because there is an “oversaturated” marketplace does not mean that you shouldn’t enter it. Sharks go hunting where there is plenty of food!

On the contrary, there’s money to be made especially if you can do it better than the others who are already there.

Happy marketing!

3 Reasons Why Twitter Is Overrated

Are you using Twitter yet?

Have you got the Twitter bug?

Millions of people are jumping on the bandwagon as it seems to be the latest craze but if you sign up and use it for the wrong reasons then it can be a complete waste of time. Here’s why:

Reason 1: You’ll spend hours on there when you should be doing something productive instead. Yes, it’s addictive but you’ll be busy doing nothing. Believe me, I’ve been there. You’ll think it’s great but you won’t add to your bottom line.

Reason 2: When you make a posting it’s hit and miss who will see it at that particular moment. People are hell bent on getting as many followers as they can instead of just building a steady following.

Reason 3: I don’t really care that Flossy is “Just settling down for Eastenders”. So many people post useless junk it’s ridiculous. Either that or loads of self promoting garbage.

There you go, that’s my 3 reasons why it’s overrated.

Sure, I get a lot of business from Twitter but you must be aware of what you’re getting yourself into!

It can be a great business builder if you know what you’re doing or it could be just another thing that makes you put off work and jobs you should be doing whilst you are Tweeting instead!

Happy Tweeting!
