What Makes An Entrepreneur?
What makes an Entrepreneur?
To me it is anticipating needs and fulfilling them.
One of the greatest quotes I’ve heard is about the legendary ice hockey player Wayne Gretzky. When asked what made him so good he said “Most players go to where the puck is. I go to where the puck is going.”
The same is true for entrepreneurs. They look to the future and the opportunities that are there. They have a strong sense of purpose and vision and follow and TAKE ACTION on that vision. Entrepreneurs are MASSIVE ACTION people – they would rather try something rather than think about it for 5 years! Another key trait is that they have an insatiable work ethic.
They’ll be the first in and last out not because they have to, but because they want to because they LOVE what they do. They love making the deal.
They also think differently too. Whereas Joe Average will go home and vegetate in-front of Eastenders and Coronation Street each night the Entrepreneur is constantly thinking what can and could be done to improve their business albeit at a subconscious level. Reduce your TV watching by just 1 hour each night and read a business book or listen to a new business concept on CD instead and over 1 year that’s equivalent of an additional 250 hours or over 30 working days where you will have improved your skills!
Do the same in your commute to work and you can take the equivalent of learning a PHD in your car! Entrepreneurs do what the masses do not. They are rare and as we all know there is value in rarity!
